Faces in Stone: Shadows of Victory

Sculpture by Augustus Saint Gaudens' "Victory"
Saint Gaudens National Historical Site Cornish NH

The statute of Saint Gaudens' "Victory" was lit by light sources from multiple angles and in-direct sun light which gave her this interesting shadow effect

Faces in Stone: General William Tecumseh Sherman USA

Sculpture by Augustus Saint Gaudens
Saint Gaudens National Historical Site Cornish NH

My photograph of General Sherman's bust at the Saint Gaudens National Historical Site; I hope to emphasize the dark persona that this sculpture portrays. The bust itself is shaded from any direct light in the gallery and the shadows that fall on it make Saint Gaudens' piece look like it could speak to you. The voice I could hear was dark, raspy and gruff the voice of man that had been through hell and returned.

Nancy's Rendition of a Met Innmon Design

The other day Nancy created a piece from a pattern designed by Met Innmon, I photographed the piece as I do with all of Nancy's work. The photographs I took just bugged me, it didn't represent the piece very well and was kind of flat. So yesterday Nancy and I were out shopping, we stopped at a Michaels store and I found these poster size pages in a polished black as well as a pearly white, I though they would make great photographic background material.

They worked really well: I re-shot the "Kudo Spirial" bangle

Wonders of the Rock

This small rock I have been using for a few years as a set piece or prop in Nancy's Jewelry photographs, this morning I needed a stand in to for test shot in a new setup and there was the trusty rock. So the "rock" got it's own portrait today.

Watching the Visitors

While driving through the Saratoga Battlefield National Historical Park, in the fall of 2008 I noticed this lone deer walking toward the park access road. She didn't seemed to be phased by my presence I was driving very slow and pull up and stopped when I opened my car window she just looked at me. I was able to take three photographs of her before she became nervous and left.

Nancy's new piece

Nancy created this wonderful piece over the past week: I was looking for a different background to display it on and came up with the back of my leather coat which seems to set the piece off very nicely
